In 2015, Dana Pizzuti was a vice president at a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical firm, overseeing more than 400 people in 30 countries, when she decided to pursue the process of coming out and transitioning. However, as she considered her future and began to research how she would begin a workplace transition, she found resources to be scarce.
Following her transition and her emergence as a powerful advocate for LGBT+ rights, Dana has now written the book she wishes she had when she was transitioning at work herself.
The first guide of its kind, Transitioning in the Workplace is a must-have resource for both employees and managers operating in the increasingly diverse work world of the 21st century. The book offers transgender people and their employers everything they need to know to ensure a successful transition in the workplace, including strategies for coming out to co-workers, recommendations for constructing realistic medical timetables, tips on assembling a work-appropriate wardrobe following a transition, advice for identifying discriminatory behaviors, tactics for evaluating the corporate culture and inclusiveness of a prospective employer, and an easy-to-read breakdown of current laws and existing corporate policies.
The decision to transition takes real courage—the kind of courage that has proven to be an asset in any professional setting. Transitioning in the Workplace acts as a roadmap to ensure that those who transition at work have the tools and support they need to succeed and flourish in their chosen professions.
